Boys

Ringling 59 Geronimo 33 

A trip to the regional tournament was in the cards Friday night for the Ringling Blue Devils, as they cruised past Geronimo in the opening round of the district tournament at Ft. Cobb-Broxton High School.

Ringling opened the game with a 14-3 run in the first quarter, before ending the half strong outscoring Geronimo 19-7.

The Blue Devils pulled away in the third with a 20-6 run, before being outscored 15-6 in the fourth. 

Coty Scott led the way with 25 points followed by Caige Calvert with 16 points.

Ringling was scheduled to take on the No. 1 Mustangs for the district title Saturday night. 

Turner 50 Thackerville 29 

The Turner Falcons first season under head coach Jimmy Voight took off to a new level Friday night as the Falcons earned a place in the regional tournament with a comfortable victory over the Thackerville Wildcats at Velma-Alma High School.

After the first quarter it was the Falcons leading 10-5, before taking a 23-10 lead into the halftime break.

Turner pulled away in the third quarter with a 16-7 run, before finishing the game off with an 11-10 run in the fourth quarter.

Justice Hartman led the Falcons with 17 points followed by Tyler Campbell with 15 points and Colton Empey with 12 points. 

Turner was scheduled to face the No. 7 Comets for the district title Saturday night. 

Girls

Thackerville 41 Turner 38 

It was an unfortunate end to the season for the Turner Lady Falcons, as they were defeated by the Thackerville Lady Wildcats in the opening round of the district tournament at Velma-Alma.

The Lady Falcons were down 12-6 at the end of the first quarter, before heading into the break down 26-20 after both teams scored 14 points in the second.

Turner closed the deficit to 31-28 going to the fourth after an 8-5 run in the third, but were denied the victory as both teams scored 10 points in the fourth. 

Jaleigh Durst led Turner with 17 points followed by Tallie Tynes with seven points. 

Temple 47 Springer 25 

Back-to-back appearances in the regional tournament were not to be for the Springer Lady Cardinals as they were eliminated from the playoffs Friday night against Temple at Temple High School.

Temple went on an 11-2 run to open the game before taking a 30-8 lead into the break.

Both teams managed to score 17 points in the second half.

Kamryn Sampson and Kailee Lathum each scored eight points in the game for Springer with Madelyn Hodge adding seven points. 

In other district tournament action from Friday night, Ringling’s Lady Blue Devils were eliminated by Geronimo by a score of 55-54 at Ft Cobb-Broxton High School.
