Ardmoreite Helen Elizabeth Porter, 83, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2019, following an extended illness. The daughter of the late Euell H. Porter and Cleo Hoss Porter, Helen was born Aug. 26, 1935, in Ardmore.  
Growing up in Ardmore she attended schools here, Lincoln Elementary, Ardmore Junior High and Ardmore High School, and was a member of the graduating class of 1953. In the high school yearbook, The Criterion, it noted, “When you ask her to do something, it is done well. The secretary of the Pep Club she is intelligent, industrious and a good student.” Helen then enrolled in Texas Women’s University at Denton, Texas, graduating with a bachelors degree in 1957. She worked for Mobil Oil Company in Dallas before returning to Texas Women’s University as the administrative assistant to the president and later in the placement office until retiring from the university. She then moved to Dallas where she was active in real estate sales until returning to Ardmore.
Helen is survived by her brother, James Porter of Ardmore.
A Gathering of Remembrance will be from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2019. at Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home and Crematory. Inurnment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery beside her parents, Euell and Cleo Porter.
