Joseph D. Davis, Jr. was born Nov. 7, 1942, in Tulsa. He grew up in Ardmore and attended the University of Oklahoma, after which he served in the United States Coast Guard for six years. He was then employed by Transwestern Video in Fort Smith, Ark., as their vice president and manager of construction for 20 years. He resided in Kaneohe, Hawaii, for a number of years before returning home to Heavener/Poteau.
He is survived by his son, Joey; a brother, William H. Davis; and a sister, Susan Coffee.
