Guests who attended the Tecumseh Chamber of Commerce “Love On the Bayou” dinner and auction Feb. 11 raised approximately $23,000.
The dinner and auction was at Tecumseh City Hall with around 165 chamber members and community in attendance. Many people bid on the Silent Auction items and the event was sold out.
According to new Chamber Director, Nancy Keith, the auction was a success as it is every year.
"We had a great turnout from community members and community. The food was great and it was a fun event," Keith said.
The auction had around 125 silent items, 25 live items and 25 buy it now items. They were all donated and this year the items included: Club Level Thunder Tickets- with Parking Pass, a Taylor Electric Acoustic Guitar, an original photograph on canvas done by Walt Rose, The Grand GetAway 3, a weekend at the Artesian, “A Pie a Month”, IPRA VIP tickets to all performances, tickets to see the Broadway production of “Waitress”, Drones, Electric Smoker plus many gift baskets and gift certificates.
“Love On the Bayou” was this year's theme and the decorations reflected a New Orleans style.
According to chamber member Pam O'Rorke, funds from the event will go toward projects benefitting the community. It has yet to be decided but community leaders are meeting soon to determine what the money will be used for.
