Last season, the area tournament was something that just escaped the grasp of the Sulphur Lady Bulldogs.

This isn’t the case in 2019.

Thursday night the No. 5 Lady Bulldogs punched their ticket to the area tournament, as they claimed a comfortable victory over Okmulgee by a score of 54-32 at Henryetta High School in the regional semifinals.

Sulphur will now advance to the regional championship game Saturday night at 6:30 p.m. at Henryetta High School against No. 20 Cascia Hall, who defeated Tishomingo 53-26 in the other regional semifinal contest Thursday.

A win on Saturday would put the Lady Bulldogs one win away from the state tournament in Oklahoma City.

The Lady Bulldogs wasted no time in the contest as they led 16-10 after the first quarter.

However going into the break, Sulphur was outscored 12-7, giving them a slim 23-22 advantage going to the locker room.

But the momentum quickly returned to Sulphur in the third as the Lady Bulldogs outscored their opponents 15-8, before ending the game in style with a 16-2 fourth quarter run.

Kady Lynch led the Lady Bulldogs with 19 points in the game followed by Abby Beck with 16 points.

Payton Row added nine points for Sulphur who improved to 23-2 with the victory.
