Saturday afternoon, it was the Lady Comets who got the final word when it mattered most. 

A 20-point first quarter set the tone for Dickson, who raced its way to a berth in the area tournament with a 58-39 victory over the Lady Horns at Lindsay High School in the regional consolation championship.

Dickson (12-14) will now meet Marlow at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Ada High School in the opening round of the area tournament with the winner meeting either Comanche or Beggs in the semifinals.

The Lady Comets took the lead early and raced out to a 20-8 advantage going to the second quarter.

However, the Lady Horns responded with a 13-5 run in the second to cut the deficit to 25-21 going to the break.

But the Lady Comets had a response in the third with an 18-10 run, before finishing the game off with a 15-8 run in the fourth quarter.

Dickson found itself in the contest after a dramatic 58-56 victory over Lexington Friday night, while Lone Grove also won Friday night by a score of 56-51 against Lindsay.

Landri McClure led the Lady Comets with 17 points in the game, followed by Sienna Young with 15 points. 

Hailey Davis added 11 points for Dickson, while Makayla Smith scored five points.

Lone Grove was led by Cheyanne Davis and Lydia Saavedra each with 12 points, followed by Anna Black with four points. 

The loss means the Lone Grove Lady Horns will finish the season with an overall record of 12-13 for the season.

They will graduate senior Madison Anderson off the squad, while having multiple returning players, including four seniors along with multiple juniors for next season under coach Sam Hale.
