Throughout the season, the No. 5 Sulphur Lady Bulldogs have faced their fair share of challenges.

Saturday night however, was one they will be happy to have overcome.

Sulphur managed to survive a hot shooting Cascia Hall team, as the Lady Bulldogs claimed the regional championship with a 48-45 victory at Henryetta High School.

Next up for the Lady Bulldogs will be the area championship game at 6:30 p.m. Friday night at Okemah High School against No. 3 Roland.

“Cascia Hall shot the ball extremely well tonight,” Sulphur coach Toby Todd said.
“We were very fortunate to come away with the regional championship tonight. Harley Beesley came in and had a huge impact for us tonight, and Makella Mobly was clutch from the free throw line when we needed her to be in crunch time. Payton Row scored eight of her 15 points in the fourth quarter, and I’m just so proud of this team and these girls.”

Cascia Hall led 12-9 after the first quarter, before the Lady Bulldogs answered with 12 points of their own to go into the break down just three points at 24-21.

After a 13-10 run by Sulphur in the third quarter, the game was even going to the fourth at 34-34.

It was down the stretch the Lady Bulldogs were able to pull away, as Sulphur scored 14 points in the fourth quarter, while holding Casica Hall to just 11 in the final eight minutes.

Beesley added 15 points along with Row, while Kady Lynch scored six points.

Mobly finished with five points, while Abby Beck added four points for Sulphur.

Sulphur moved to 24-2 with the victory Saturday night.
