March 29 will be a lucky day for many area residents. That’s because The Family Shelter of Southern Oklahoma will be hosting their sixth annual Casino Night Fundraiser. Kathy Manning, director, said the evening will be the perfect chance to have fun while raising money for a great cause.
“We hold this fundraiser every year to bring awareness to domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking,” Manning said.
The funds raised will help purchase items for the organization’s clients and will be used to help run the nonprofit’s three facilities.
Attendees will be able to test their luck at Texas Hold’em, Blackjack, Roulette and Craps. Instead of winning money from the games, they will receive tickets which can be used for a chance to win prizes. Some of the prizes included a guided Striper fishing trip on Lake Texoma, concert tickets to Ariana Grande, and a diamond necklace.
Manning said that all prizes were donated from local businesses and organizations, with many of the donors actually contacting the shelter and volunteering to assist with the event.
“You really realize how much your community supports you when they ask to participate in an event giving back to the people we are helping,” Manning said.
In addition to the table games, the event will also feature food, drinks, and a live DJ.
The Casino Night Fundraiser will be from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. Friday, March 29, at the Ardmore Convention Center. Tickets are $75 per person and can be purchased in advance at the shelter’s administrative office located at 402 Pawnee St. or at the door the night of the event. Cash, checks and credit cards will be accepted.
