Funeral services for Former Vo-Tech Administrator, Nolan Lee Hester, Sr., 86, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 16, 2019, in the Centennial Chapel of Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Ada.
A time of support for family and friends will befrom 6 to 7 p.m., Friday, at Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home.
Nolan Lee Hester, Sr. passed away Wednesday, March 13, 2019, at Ardmore’s Mercy Hospital.  The son of the late Robert B. and Beulah Little Hester, Nolan was born July 5, 1932, at Wilson and had lived in Southern Oklahoma all of his life.
After attending Zaneis schools, Nolan graduated from Wilson High School, the class of 1950. He entered college at East Central University and later Oklahoma State University where he received a Master’s Degree.
Nolan and the former Helen June Cleghorn were married Aug. 16, 1952, at Fitzhugh, Okla.  They were married just short of their 15th wedding anniversary, when Helen passed away, Feb. 6, 2002.  
For a time Nolan worked at McDonald-Douglass on the Titan Missile project before becoming a carpentry instructor at Southern Oklahoma Vocational School, and becoming administrator of the facility.  He had also taught and coached basketball at Apache, Oklahoma schools.
A member of the Church of Christ, Nolan was an avid bass fisherman; he enjoyed working crossword puzzles and bird watching in his leisure time.
In addition to his parents and wife, Nolan was preceded in death by his son, Nolan L. Hester, Jr.  He is survived by his daughter Tammie Stephens and her husband Gary; grandchildren Dawn Gatlin, Krystal Roberts and Matthew Hester; great-grandchildren, Skylar Gatlin, Gage Gatlin, Jastin Roberts and Taylor Roberts; brothers Bob Hester and his wife Lou, and Eddie Hester and a sister Loretta Jones.
