Home Going services for Harold Douglas, Sr., will be at 10 a.m. Monday, March 18, 2019, in the Centennial Chapel of Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home with Reverend John Roberts officiating.  Inurnment will follow at Clearview Cemetery.
 Mr. Harold Douglas, Sr. was born at Cheek, on July 7, 1927, to Dora Lee and Ross Douglas. He later moved to Ardmore, where he met and married the love of his life, Willie Dean Wilson on Jan. 14, 1952. They were the parents of 10 children, and had celebrated their 52 wedding anniversary when Willie Dean passed away, July 6, 2004.
A member of Corinth Baptist Church, Mr. Douglas was an employee of the city of Ardmore for 15 years and Joe Brown Trucking for 30 years, until his retirement in 2001.   A caretaker at Clearview Cemetery, he also enjoyed working on cars, raising cattle and pigs. It was often said there wasn’t a stranger that he didn’t soon know, or a smile kept to oneself.
In addition to his wife, Willie Dean, Mr. Douglas was preceded in death by a daughter Valerie, a son Harold, Jr., three brothers Nathaniel Brown, J. C.  Douglas and his twin Carrol Douglas, four sisters Mary Alice Jones, Mildred Reid, Louise Douglas,  Essie Douglas and son-in-law, Mike Briscoe.
Following a time of failing health, Mr. Harold Douglas, Sr. went from life to life everlasting March 7, 2019, at the age of 91 years and 8 months of age.
Those left to forever cherish the heart warming memories and to follow his tremendous examples of love and devotion are two sons, Terry Dean Douglas and Jeffrey Lee Douglas and wife, Myashandria of Ardmore; six daughters; Patsy Washington, Kathy Malone, Debra Drake and Tracey Douglas, all of Ardmore, Phyllis Edwards and husband Mark, of Detroit, Mich., and Hope Briscoe of Lawton; three grandchildren, whom he reared, Crystal Douglas of Ardmore, CheRese and Anthony Edwards of Detroit, Mich.;  a brother Edgar Wren of Ardmore,  a special nephew Billy Douglas of Ardmore;  six special nieces; Tammy Gay, Velma Moton, Marlo Moton, Sharlene Avery, JoAnn Christian and Donna Kay Horton, all of Ardmore; and his brother-in-law A. V. Wilson. Mr. Douglas also has 19 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great grandchildren, many other extended family members and friends that will cherish his memory. Though he will be missed, Harold Douglas, Sr., will not be forgotten.
