Saturday morning the Arbuckle Sunrise Rotary Club will be hosting its annual El Chico Breakfast Fundraiser. The meal will consist of a breakfast burrito, breakfast potatoes, fresh fruit and your choice of coffee, orange juice or water.
Rotarian Carolyn McElroy said the club has been hosting the event for several years, but this year they will be joined by a new partner.
“This year we are going to be coordinating with the Ardmore school band for the first time,” McElroy said. She said the proceeds will be divided between the two groups.
“One of our biggest projects is we give every third grader in Carter County a free dictionary,” McElroy said. She added that the group also makes regular contributions to many local charitable organizations.
ACS Band Director Chauvin Aaron said the band will use this money to help fund a field trip for the middle school band.
“At the end of the year, we take a trip where they perform at Arbuckle Wilderness,” Aaron said. “After their performance is over, we drive down to Six Flags and enjoy the afternoon.”
Breakfast will be served from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m with Rotarians and band members helping to prepare the food and acting as wait staff. McElroy also pointed out that El Chico acts as another valuable partner in the event.
“We have awesome help from the El Chico staff,” McElroy said. “We all meet up at the restaurant around 5:00 or 5:30 in the morning and put everything together. They have the eggs cooked and we prepare the sausage, put the burritos together, and cut up the fresh fruit.”
Tickets will be available at the door or can be purchased in advance at a reduced price. The cost for individuals is $6 in advance and $10 at the door. Family tickets for groups of up to five cost $12 in advance and $15 at the door.
Advance tickets can be purchased from any member of the Ardmore Arbuckle Sunrise Rotary Club or ACS band member. Band Director Chauvin Aaron said interested parties can also get advance tickets by calling the Ardmore band room at (580) 221-3001 ext. 2142.
