Earlier this week the Ardmore Outpatient VA Clinic saw its first patient in their new location. Wednesday afternoon, officials from the Oklahoma City VA Health Care System joined the local clinicians and staff for their official ribbon cutting.
The Oklahoma City VA Healthcare System serves 48 Oklahoma counties and two in Texas, and the Ardmore clinic is a part of this system.
The new clinic is located on the west side of the Shops at Ardmore between Hobby Lobby and Planet Fitness. The 4,200 square foot facility has its own entrance and boasts plenty of parking near the door.
Health Care System Director Wade Vlosich said everyone is excited to be in the new, larger space.
“Our new clinic is about two-thirds bigger than the one we had before,” Vlosich said. Helping to fill the extra space are two new health care providers. The new center also provides more opportunities for tele-health.
“We’ve got tele-health services, mental tele-health services, and we’ve also got clinical tele-health services,” Vlosich said. “So now if there is any type of virtual care that needs to be done with specialists or genetic testing, it can all be done in our clinic.”
Vlosich said that the Ardmore clinic is the first in a series of new facilities the Oklahoma City VA Healthcare System will be opening. Early next month they will be opening a homeless campus in Oklahoma City, and later in the year another clinic is scheduled to open in Clinton.
“We are so excited about all of the changes and the growth. We are actually one of the fastest growing facilities in our region right now,” Vlosich said. The Oklahoma City VA System has served over 4,000 new patients since last October.
The Ardmore VA Outpatient Clinic is open to veterans from Monday to Friday between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. In addition to the tele-health options available, the clinic also offers primary care, women’s care, lab collection, and social work services.
