While wins have been hard to come by this season for the Dickson Comets, they managed to get one at just the right time on Thursday.

Dickson won its opening game of the district tournament, before losing the second against Comanche at the Field of Dreams.

The split means the Comets will have to win one more game today in order to advance back to the Class 3A regional tournament next week.

Game One
Dickson 3
Comanche 1 F/8

It might have taken extra innings, but the Comets managed to keep their season alive with a narrow victory in the opening game Thursday against the Indians.

Tanner Stewart gave the Comets a 1-0 lead in the top of the second when he scored on a bases loaded walk drawn by Tyler McCord.

Comanche would tie the game in the bottom of the fourth off an RBI double.

Brice Tibbs would play the role of hero in the top of the eighth for Dickson, as he slapped a two-RBI single to third with two outs, giving the Comets a 3-1 lead.

Mason Marks got the win on the mound, throwing eight innings of work. He allowed one run (0 earned) on two hits with one walk and 10 strikeouts.

Game Two

Comanche 10 Dickson 1 F/6

The second game of the series was ended in much quicker fashion, as the Indians used a pair of four-run innings to earn a split.

Dickson took the lead in the second when Cameron McCord scored on an error.

Comanche though tied the game with one run in the third, followed by four runs in the fourth, one in the fifth and four more in the sixth.

Rusty Beard took the loss on the mound for the Comets, throwing six innings of work. He allowed eight earned runs on 10 hits with three walks and five strikeouts.
