The City of Ardmore will be holding the seventh annual Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event on Saturday, May 4. The event was rescheduled after being canceled on April 13 due to inclement weather and will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the parking lot across the street from the Ardmore Municipal Building located at 23 South Washington.
Some of the items that will be accepted include: paint, paint thinner and other solvents, mercury, pesticides and herbicides, pool chemicals, household chemicals and bleach.
Unacceptable items include: commercial waste from businesses, ammunitions and explosives, white goods such as refrigerators or air conditions, stoves, washers and dryers.
Sanitation Supervisor Melissa Lang said the collection area will be clearly marked with cones and barricades.
“People don’t even have to get out of their vehicle when they are dropping things off. They just need to open their trunk or unlock the back doors, and the workers will take care of everything,” Lang said.
Lang also requested that all chemicals be clearly marked so the city can dispose of them properly.
