Enville — Services for Maxie Willis Hice, of Enville, are set for 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 12, 2019, in the Enville Community Church, Enville, with Bro. Bob Garsee officiating. Interment will follow in the Legate Cemetery, Legate Community under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Marietta.
Born Sept. 7, 1941, at Batson, Okla., to Chester and Eunice Dean Hice, Maxie passed away at his home on Saturday, June 8, 2019.
Maxie lived most of his life in Love County. He married Mary Pratt Jan. 4, 1963, in Gainesville, Texas. He worked 21 years at the Little Brownie Company in shipping and mixing before he finished his work career at Uniroyal-Michelin as a cure operator until 2002. Maxie loved to ride horses and coon hunt. He rode with the Enville Rebel and Ardmore Riding Club in many pony express races. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Lebanon, where he served as a deacon for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Mary of the home; a son, Larry Hice and wife Joyce, of Marietta; two grandsons, Corey Hice and wife Jessica, of Marietta, and Jason Nicholson and wife Crystal, of Lone Grove; six great-grandchildren, Allie, Maddie and Addie Hice of Marietta; Kaden, Mikayla and Asher Nicholson of Lone Grove; and two sisters, Jimie Hice of Marietta, and Valerie Reed and husband Darrell, of Leon.
Serving as pallbearers are Sonny Mobley, Gene Rhoades, Earl Spears, Mike Mathis, Derrie Minyard and Truman Sandlin. Honorary bearers are Dale Allen, Bill Russell, Willie Ed Douglas, Ralph Tullis, Waylon Brown, Jason Riggs, C.A. Robinson and Chris Lemons.
Memorial contributions can be made to Cross Timbers Hospice.
Time of visitation for family and friends will be this evening from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
