Sammie Joe Vaughn, 68, of Ardmore, passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2019. He was born Oct. 17, 1950 in Ardmore, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Vaughn.
A resident of Carter County most of his life, Sammie attended school in Ardmore and graduated from Lone Grove. He married Gail Wright Vaughn June 2, 2000 in Bowie, Texas. Some of his interests included fishing, pitching horseshoes, drinking beer and listening to old country music. Sam enjoyed working in his yard and took a lot of pride in its appearance, but most of all he loved spending time with all the grandkids.  
Sammie was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, William Alfred Vaughn, John Vaughn and Don Vaughn; two sisters, Ruby Lee Vaughn and Billie Shepard; and a grandson Dylan Baugh.
Survivors include his wife, Gail of the home; five sons, Damon Eric Vaughn, Dalton Joseph Toups Vaughn, Roger Chase Baugh and wife Alisha, Tony Dale Baugh and wife Erin and Richard Samuel Baugh-Pennington and husband Rodney Pennington; four daughters, Saloan Marie Vaughn-Davis, April Shalene Broussard and husband Blaine, Samantha Laurene Vaughn and Willie Houston, and Jennifer Shanti Vaughn and Douglas Duane Craddock; six brothers, Dan Vaughn, Raymond Vaughn, Billy Edward, Luis Vaughn, Ricky Vaughn and Frankie Vaughn; a sister, Lois Southerland; 23 grandchildren, Tandler Derek Vaughn and wife Lauren, Taylen Damon Darrell Vaughn and fiancé Monica Cantu, Sariah Hope Vaughn, Kailee Thai Vaughn, Niya Lauren Vaughn, Shyla Taylor Vaughn, Sklar Eric Vaughn, Whitley Brunside, Michael McCoy, Madison McCoy, Virginia Laurene Vaughn, Elijah Semaj Vaughn, Myleia L’Rae Vaughn, Matthew Isaiah Vaughn, Kelly Shanti Craddock, Hunter Baugh, Josh Baugh, Johnathan Baugh, Adain Baugh, Jacob Baugh, Mackenzie Baugh, Brittney Rodriguez and husband Juan and Kyle Pennington; four great-grandchildren, Bently Scott Vaughn, Dominic Zane Vaughn, Jayston Rodriguez and Easton Rodriguez; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at 11 a.m. on June 22, 2019 at the home of William and Carole Lee.
