Those looking to improve their putting while raising funds need look no further than the 28th annual More Foundation Golf Tournament and silent auction slated for Monday at Dornick Hills Country Club. All funds raised during the golf tournament will be used to give scholarships to Carter County graduates.
More Foundation Executive Director Roslyn Haile said the foundation is now in its 29th year of granting scholarships and that in 2019 they added 77 new scholarships for $462,000 and are currently serving over 400 active recipients in Oklahoma universities, colleges and vocational technical schools.
“That’s the most important thing about this whole event,” Haile said. “All of these golfers come, and we send the proceeds back into the scholarship fund for the kids. It always raises great awareness and money that all goes back to Carter County graduates.”
Haile said golfers come from a wide range of areas to take part in the tournament with teams coming in this year from Oklahoma City, Texas, and as far away as Louisiana. She said 38 teams have already signed up to participate this year with time remaining for others to still join.
“A single team entry is what we call our silver sponsorship, and that is $500,” Haile said. The cost includes all four members on each team. She added there are also different levels of sponsorship available for those who want to make larger donations. For those not wanting to donate such a large amount of money, Haile said there are still several hole sponsorships available.
“Right now I wish we had more hole sponsors,” Haile said. “That costs $100 and that puts you on a sign out on the golf course saying the More Foundation is sponsored by your business.”
Haile said the tournament will be divided into a morning tournament and an afternoon tournament and each of the two tournaments will be served lunch. This year, the More Foundation will be giving out two golf bags during each tournament as part of a drawing. The foundation will also be holding a silent auction during the tournament.
“We’ve got about a dozen silent auction items, and they’re all great,” Haile said. “We’ve got a lot of golf packages including a stay and play for Falconhead, and we’ve got one for the Jimmy Austin OU Golf Club.”
Haile said members of the More Foundation board of trustees helped secure the silent auction items.
“I have such a wonderful, active board,” Haile said. “So my trustees are out there and they’re getting sponsorships and items donated for our silent auction.”
The More Foundation Golf Tournament will take place on Monday, June 24 at Dornick Hills Country Club. The morning tournament begins with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. and the afternoon tournament begins at 1 p.m. To register a team or sign up for a hole sponsorship please email Rosalyn Haile at
