Sherrel Dean Brownlee was born July 6, 1944, in Okemah, to Samuel and Jaunita Harrison Brownlee and passed from this life June 19, 2019, in Tulsa at the age of 74.
Dean was raised in Okemah and attended the Okemah School. As a young man he worked in the Oklahoma oil fields as a drilling rigger and he honorably served his country in the Oklahoma National Guard. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, “junking,” and collecting guns.
On August 5, 1977, he married Sherri Kingston and they made Weleetka their lifelong home. He loved the oil field work he did and his job as a sandblaster working side by side with his brother, Jimmie Dale. He is remembered as a devoted son and father. Service will be officiated by Sister Althea Brownlee
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister JoAnn Cooper and two brothers, Jerry and Jimmie Dale Brownlee.
Survivors include: his wife Sherri of the home; his children Dena Jean Charles of Norman, Sarah Ybarra of Boley, J.R. Brownlee of Weleetka, and Paul Brownlee and Jeff Brownlee of Tulsa; his sister Althea Brownlee of Ardmore; and a nephew Terry Brownlee of Weleetka.
Viewing and visitation will be at the Williamson-Spradlin Funeral Home in Wetumka starting at 9 a.m. Friday, June 21. A memorial service will be held at the Spradlin Memorial Chapel at 11 a.m. also on Friday.
