While the weather might be heating up this summer, several Plainview athletes recently showed that they weren’t scared off by some heat, or big fish for that matter.

While the weather might be heating up this summer, several Plainview athletes recently showed that they weren’t scared off by some heat, or big fish for that matter.

Last weekend at Lake Murray the Oklahoma B.A.S.S Nation held the Junior State Championship competition. which saw three junior high teams from Plainview take part in the competition.

Colton Smart and Blane Gibbs managed to bring home seventh place overall, while Garrett Keith and Dru Naylor finished in fourth place overall as a team.

However, the biggest winners of the day were Carson Owen and Parker Eubanks, who finished as the State Runner-Up, missing the state title by just 1.1 ounces.

Eubanks landed the biggest bass of the tournament weighing in at 5.66 pounds.

As a result of their strong finish, the duo of Eubanks and Owen will be representing Oklahoma at the Jr. National Championship which will be held on August 6-7 at Carroll County Lake in Tennessee.
