Sylvester Keith Buycks passed unexpectedly from this world on Sunday, June 23, 2019 at his Elmore City residence at the age of 57. A long-time resident of Davis, he worked many years at Haliburton as a welder. He also held welding positions at Wilco, Nabors, and VE over the years. In his younger years, he was employed as a ranch hand by David Foster. He considered this a very important time in his life.
Keith was born on Aug. 11, 1961, in Sulphur, to Earnestine and Dorothy Buycks.  He was raised in his home in Tatums with his brothers and sisters. Due to the unexpected death of his aunt Maxine, cousins Calvin and Cricket grew up in the home with them as well. He graduated from Fox High School in 1980. He married Velesa Buycks Aug. 17, 1984. They welcomed a son, Baylen, in February 1987. Keith served in the National Guard for eight years. Keith was an avid fisherman, deer hunter, and loved watching football. He was a member of Pilgrim Baptist Church.  
Keith is survived by his mother Dorothy Buycks; sister Verna Watts and husband Sam Earl; sister Joyce Gaines; sister Vanessia Dodd; brother John Buycks; sister Tonda Nero; son Baylen Buycks, wife Rhea and their daughter Jaylee Jo. He leaves behind numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, one infant brother, and cousin Cricket.
A memorial service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday July 5, 2019 at the Bethel Baptist Church in Tatums. Reverend Kirk Rushing will officiate. Flowers and condolences may be sent to Wooster Funeral home in Elmore City.
