Recreation Celebration will be returning to Ardmore Community Water Park this Saturday. Ardmore Parks and Recreation hosts the special event every July in honor of National Parks and Recreation month, and every year there is a special theme that includes special decorations, games and prizes.
“This year our theme is Tiki Island, so all of the decorations are centered around that,” Assistant Director Alicia Henry said. “When you walk in everything will look completely different. We’ll also have special tiki games set all throughout the park and you can win prizes.”
Henry said the first 50 people inside will be given a special goody bag filled with luau-themed treats and surprises and there is another major advantage to getting in early.
“Everything starts at 12:30, and we’re having a $2 admission until 2  (p.m.). So it pays to be the early bird,” Henry said.
Another feature of the day will be meal deals and special food items not typically sold at the concession stand.
“With the meal deals we offer products that we don’t typically sell,” Henry said. “So we’ll have pizza for $1 a slice. We’ll also have Frito chill pies and chili cheese nachos and some other things we don’t normally do. You can also get hotdogs, chips and a drink for a certain price. Our concession is always very affordable, but we offer the special deals for Recreation Celebration events.

Henry said the lifeguards will be wearing special Tiki Island themed T-shirts which will also be available for purchase until supplies run out.

Recreation Celebration begins at 12:30 p.m., Saturday, July 20 at the Ardmore Community Water Park. Admission is $2 until 2 p.m. at which point the usual prices are in effect, $5 for those ages 12 and up and $4 for children 11 and under.
