Memorial services for Joyce Charlene “Muer” Beames, 85, will be 10 a.m. Friday, July 19, 2019, in the Centennial Chapel of Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home with Dr. Robert Wilson officiating.
The daughter of the late Sherwin William Smith and Nancy Elene (Strickland) Smith,  Muer was born on Dec. 13, 1933, in a log cabin on the banks of the Red River near the community of Isom Springs, and passed away on July 16, 2019, at her Ardmore residence.
A resident of Southern Oklahoma most of her life, Muer graduated from Kingston High School and attended Southeastern State University. She worked at Oklahoma State University, in Stillwater for 25 years. Muer moved back to Ardmore 15 years ago and had been a member of the First Baptist Church.  She enjoyed gardening, spending time with her grandkids and her 2 special dogs.
She is survived by her son, Calvin Beames III and wife, Dorothy; daughters, Deborah Lee Puckette and husband Tom and Rebecca Ann Bray and husband Ivan; sister, Dayna Littleton; niece, Jamie Sue Dyer and husband Travis; grandchildren, Calvin Beames IV and wife Megan, Melanie Long and husband Jake, Michael Puckette and wife Kerry, Mark Puckette, Taylor Aaron and husband Trevor, Bubba Bray and wife Jesica, Shawna Keith and husband Josh and Valerie Bray; great grandchildren, Tucker, Leah, Madalynn, Evan, Camrynn, Taylor, Kevin, Jemma, Quintin, Oakley, Titus, Tyler, Colten, Cassidy, Hailey, Courtney, Dani, Dylan, Devinn and Spencer.  Preceded in death by her parents; S.W. and Elene Smith; sister, Janet Carol Roberts; brothers-in-laws, James Danner and O.P. Littleton.
Honorary pallbearers will be the grandchildren.
