If you are going to end strong, you might as well do it in style.

If you are going to end strong, you might as well do it in style.

That’s exactly what the ladies of the Ardmore Thunder JAM teams did over the last few weeks.

Head coach Josh McGee and his squads finished up a strong summer season with tournaments in Shreveport, Louisiana and Plano, Texas as part of the PrimeTime Sportz Hoop It Up Tournament Tour.

During the weekend of July 13-14, the Lady Thunder Blue squad managed to win second place in the 9th/10th grade high school division, while the Lady Thunder Black squad won the High School Girls 11th/12th grade division.

“When we go to a lot of these tournaments, we’re seen as the underdogs because of our size,” McGee said. “These ladies know how to shock a lot of people though. All I ask is that they give 100 percent and have fun doing it out there.

They certainly did that in Shreveport.”

Last weekend, the teams played their last tournaments of the year in Plano, Texas.

The Lady Thunder Black squad managed to take fourth overall after a 2-2 weekend in the 11th/12th grade division, while the Lady Thunder Blue squad won second overall, with a strong 3-1 record over the weekend.

The weekend was bittersweet though for coach McGee, as it will possibly be the last time he coaches his senior daughter Miyah in AAU competition. Miyah will be playing for the Ardmore Lady Tigers this season under head coach Debra Manley.

“Miyah is looking forward to a great senior year this season,” coach McGee said. “Time has just gone by so fast and in the blink of an eye she became a senior. All of our girls are going to continue to work hard this season and I’m very proud of all of them.”
