Staples has recently introduced a new program that allows parents to gift teachers 5% of their total purchases until September 15, and to help kick the program off they will be hosting a back to school block party this Saturday and Sunday.
Vance Porter, sales consultant, said teachers can sign up for the Classroom Rewards Program with their rewards membership number and then parents can go online to input their receipts. Teachers will then be able to use this money to stock up on classroom supplies.
“This is a really great program that they’ve put together for teachers, and I’m so happy with how much support there’s been from the corporate office,” Porter said. “To really get this program off to a good start we’ve decided to do a block party this weekend.”
The block party will take place at Staples on Saturday and Sunday during regular store hours. There will be facepainting available for children both days. Saturday, the Ardmore Fire Department will be at the event most of the day and Lexy Thompson from All-State Insurance will be on site with Operation Kidsafe.
“She’ll be here taking pictures and doing finger printing,” Porter said. “She prints everything out on a card that parents will be able to give to police if their child ever goes missing.”
Porter said the event will take place both inside the store and outside under canopies. There will be some free giveaways over the course of the weekend, and bottled water will be available for the outdoor portions of the event.
