It has often been said that if once is good, twice is better.

It has often been said that if once is good, twice is better.

That’s exactly the mindset the Plainview cheer teams have been using this summer when it comes to camps.

During the weekend of July 16-19th, both the Plainview varsity and junior high cheer squads traveled to the Jeff and Craig cheer camp.

The junior high cheer squad came away with multiple all-star awards which were given to Emilee Hedger (8th grade), Addison Pinkerton (8th grade), Ashlynn Frankum (7th grade) and Serenity Scarbrough.

As a team, the Lady Indians junior high squad won a perfect performance award, as well as the Dynamite Stick spirit award.

On the varsity side, the Lady Indians added to their already stacked awards list which began earlier this summer at UCA camp in Norman.

Multiple members of the squad earned individual All-Star awards including seniors Abi Cavello, Isabel Gonzalez, Rylie Pyles, and Lauren Woerz.

For the juniors it was Lauren Austin, Morgan Foster, Jacey Keith, and Madie Turner earning All-Star recognition.

Sophomores Kaylie Anderson, Avery Fuller, Brooke Herron, Hannah Ritter, and Skylar Ross also received All-Star recognition.

Madie Turner also received the Top Gun award for tumbling, while Ragan Wood won the Top Gun award for best jumper.

Plainview also received the Top Gun award for best stunt group which was comprised of Lauren Woerz (Back Spot), Isabel Gonzalez (Main Base), Rylie Plyes (Side Base) and Morgan Foster (Flyer).

Earlier this summer at UCA camp in norman, Gonzalez along with Haydn Hobbs earned All-American honors, while the squad earned a superior trophy for their overall performance as well as the Top Banana spirit award.

The Lady Indians will be looking for a return trip to the state finals this season, after being crowned the Class 4A state academic champions last season at the state competition which was held in Tulsa.

The Lady Indians cheerleaders will be cheering during football season which begins on Aug. 30.
