For Khole Kirts, she took full advantage of her chance to not just make a good first impression on her teammates, but her new coaches as well this summer at camp.

During the month of June, Kirts and her Ardmore Lady Tiger cheer teammates made their way to Norman for their annual cheer camp, where Kirts was lucky enough to be chosen as one of 13 All-Star members.

She was also chosen to be one of four Top Gun Finalists, and was the only one to earn a Top Gun award, with her winning for jumps.

Kirts along with her fellow All-Stars are also eligible to perform at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in November in Times Square.

It was a strong welcome to the cheerleader who had just transferred from Marietta, as she was able to prove to her new teammates so much in such a short amount of time.

“It feels great to be able to go out and have a great tryout in front of that many people,” Kirts said. “I was very nervous at first about coming to a new squad, but everyone has been so welcoming to me and it’s been so great being an Ardmore cheerleader.”

While Kirts isn’t much for public speaking as it is, she was able to overcome her fears fairly quickly on the last days of camp when she shined in front of the judges.

“You tried out in front of everyone, and there was three judges with three mats out there,” Kirts said. “I was really nervous, and I’m not great with talking in front of a large crowd, even though I’m a cheerleader.”

“Last year I didn’t try out for All-American honors because I was so nervous,” Kirts added. “But I want to thank coach Eryn (Denwillis) for giving me the push to tryout and to just try something new at camp this year.”

Kirts plans to be involved with student council at Ardmore High School this year.
