Saturday morning the Marietta Indians opened the 2019 cross country season, coming off their third state title in program history.

Marietta along with Plainview, Davis, Dickson and Ardmore opened the campaign at the Red River Showdown, which was held at Legacy Park in Marietta.

While the conditions were perfect as the cooler weather crept in, the competition was red hot.

Marietta finished in third place overall with 76 points followed by Plainview in fourth with 89 points.

Ardmore finished eighth overall with 206 points.

Byng won the overall team title with 50 points followed by Durant with 66.

Wyatt Vinson was the top finisher for Marietta in third place with a time of 17:33, with teammate Danny Sanchez in sixth overall at 17:52.

Kyler Williams finished 12th overall at 18:07, with Colt Bartling in 22nd at 19:15. 

Other finishers for Marietta included Cash Waterhouse (21:03), Wyatt Gwin (21:07), Preston Eastmon (21:35), Sergio Gomez (21:37), and Matthew Ramon (23:38). 

Plainview’s top finisher was Josh Hottel in eighth place with a time of 18:01, followed by Ethan Holman in 10th overall at 18:05. 

Trevor Honeycutt was 15th overall for Plainview with a time of 18:44.

Other finishers for Plainview included Jon Harris (20:14), Carson Orr (20:18), JT Allen (21:26), Colin Neher (25:26), Jacob Rotten (27:32), and Kyler Eades (28:59). 

Aaron Alvarez was the top finisher for Ardmore in 28th overall with a time of 20:00, followed by Tamo Garcia at 21:00. 

Other finishers for Ardmore included Rashawn Walker (23:29), Aidan Kirchenbauer (24:34), and Gabe Presley (25:37). 

Sevy Adams was the top finisher for Davis with a time of 22:08, with teammate Tuff Hammons at 22:49, and Miguel Balleza at 27:59. 

Gavin Springer was the top finisher for Dickson with a time of 23:22, with Jakob Cook clocking in at 26:25, and Chandler Love finishing with a time of 30:35.
