Despite only having played one district game this season entering Monday, the Dickson Lady Comets felt like they could compete with the Kingston Lady Redskins.

Unfortunately, things didn’t pan out the way Dickson would have wanted, as the Lady Comets were defeated 7-1 at home, dropping them to 3-8 overall and 0-2 in district play.

Dickson was scheduled to resume district play Tuesday on the road against Comanche, but the game was postponed.

The Lady Comets will be back at home on Thursday against Marietta beginning at 4 p.m.

Kingston took the lead in the top of the first inning with three runs before Dickson was able to keep the Lady Redskins off the board for a few innings.

However, the defensive resistance was broken in the top of the sixth when the Lady Redskins scored four runs to make it a 7-0 contest.

Dickson did manage to get on the board in the bottom half of the inning when Shelby Beard registered an RBI groundout which scored Lacie Winchester.

Beard took the loss on the mound for Dickson, throwing seven innings of work. She allowed seven earned runs on 15 hits with one walk.
