DICKSON — After claiming their first district win of the season against Marietta last Thursday, the Dickson Lady Comets were looking to take another step towards a possible playoff berth on Monday.

Unfortunately, the Marlow Lady Outlaws had other ideas as they spoiled Labor Day for the Lady Comets with a 9-2 victory at Lady Comet Field.

The defeat dropped Dickson to 4-9 overall and 1-3 in district play, leaving them in fifth place overall, one spot out of the regional tournament positions.

Marlow took an early 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning, before Dickson struck back with a run in the bottom half of the first.

Alyssa Warren got an RBI single to right field which scored Emily Nogueira to make it 3-1.

Despite Marlow getting one run in the top of the fifth, the Lady Comets were hanging tough and creating scoring chances with runners on base.

But the Lady Outlaws caught a break in the top of the sixth as they managed to push across five runs to expand their lead to 9-1.

Makenna Day got one run back for Dickson in the bottom half of the sixth as she slapped an RBI to center field which scored Lacie Winchester.

Unfortunately, the Lady Comets rally was halted in the bottom of the seventh.

Shelby Beard took the loss on the mound for the Lady Comets, throwing seven innings. She allowed seven earned runs on seven hits with three walks and five strikeouts.
