This season, wins in district play have been hard to come by for the Plainview Lady Indians.

On Thursday though, they decided to turn their fortunes around.

Plainview managed to win a pair of close games against the Madill Lady Wildcats at the Plainview Softball Field moving them to 6-9 overall and 2-4 in district play.

Madill meanwhile fell to 2-13 overall and 0-8 in district play. 

Game One

In the opening game, it looked like a pitchers duel was brewing early.

Neither team could generate any offense for the first four innings, but Plainview found a way in the fifth inning with three runs. 

Taryn Martin got the Lady Indians on the board when she got an RBI single off a bunt which scored Brinkley Campbell.

Martin would later score on a passed ball to make it 2-0, before Tatum Brewster got an RBI groundout.

Peyton Arnold got a run back for Madill in the top of the seventh inning, but the Lady Wildcats rally fell short.

Riley Grant got the win on the mound, throwing a complete game. She allowed one run (0 earned) on one hit with one walk and 10 strikeouts. 

McKenzie Reed took the loss for Madill on the mound, throwing six innings. She allowed three earned runs on 12 hits with four strikeouts. 

Game Two

Game two proved to be another close contest but the Lady Indians managed to hang on for the sweep.

Plainview got two runs in the top of the first inning when Tatum Brewster and Taryn Martin each collected RBI singles. 

Logan Lee made it 4-0 for Plainview in the top of the third when she collected a two-RBI double to left field. 

Peyton Arnold got Madill on the board in the bottom of the fourth with an RBI single to right field.

Brooklyn Stricker made it 5-1 with an RBI bunt single, before Samara Morgan brought home two more runs when she hit a ground ball which resulted in an error.

Emile Johnson made it 7-2 with an RBI single in the bottom of the fifth for Madill.

Stricker made it 8-2 with an RBI groundout in the top of the seventh.

Madill nearly pulled off a stunning comeback in the bottom of the seventh with four runs.

Johnson made it 8-3 with an RBI single, before McKenzie Reed brought home two runs after her ground ball resulted in an error to make it 8-5. 

Plainview though managed to shut the door and earn the victory.
