DICKSON — While most teams were busy dealing with district play on Monday, the Ardmore Lady Tigers and Dickson Lady Comets took a break to face off at Lady Comet Field.

What unfolded was a close contest as the Lady Comets earned a hard-fought 9-8 victory, giving them their seventh victory of the season.

Ardmore meanwhile fell to 7-9 on the year and will be back in action tonight with a doubleheader against Lawton Eisenhower beginning at 5 p.m.

The Lady Tigers got on the board first in the top of the first when Lauren Blankenship hit a ground ball which resulted in an error, allowing Nikayla Coleman to score.

Shelby Beard then tied the game for Dickson in the bottom half of the inning when she got an RBI single to left field.

Blankenship would strike again in the top of the third as she launched an RBI triple to right center field to make it 2-1 for Ardmore.

Emily Nogueria then tied the game in style for the Lady Comets as her single turned into an inside the park home run in the bottom of the third.

Makenna Day would give Dickson the lead when she scored on a throwing error later in the inning, before Lacie Winchester got an RBI single to make it 4-2 in the bottom of the fourth.

Day and Beard would combine to make it 6-2 later in the fourth as Day collected a sacrifice fly RBI while Beard got an RBI single.

Ardmore though managed to get back to 6-4 in the top of the fifth when Makila Case sent a two-RBI double to right center field, before Blankenship got another RBI, this time a single to make it 6-5.

Tallinn Holbrook though managed to give Dickson some breathing room when she collected an RBI bloop single in the bottom of the fifth to make it 7-5.

Then came the boom from the Lady Comets and Winchester.

The junior catcher got ahold of a pitch and launched it to left center field for a two-run home run, making it a 9-5 lead for Dickson.

But the Lady Tigers were soon given a gift in the top of the sixth when a throwing error allowed Brooklyn Coronado and Bo Molina to score, making it 9-7.

Kenya Palmer nearly helped complete a stunning comeback in the top of the seventh as she got an RBI single to make it 9-8, but the Lady Tigers couldn’t tie the game.

Beard got the win on the mound for the Lady Comets, allowing 11 hits with three strikeouts and one walk.

Savannah Marris took the loss for Ardmore, throwing six innings. She allowed 13 hits with one walk.
