With just five games left in the district portion of their schedule, the Davis Lady Wolves knew a victory on Thursday against Lexington was of the utmost importance.

Unfortunately, the Lady Bulldogs had other ideas.

Lexington scored in four innings as Davis was blanked in six innings by a score of 10-0 at the Lexington Softball Field.

The defeat has little effect on the Lady Wolves as it pertains to the playoffs as Davis is firmly locked into a place for the regional tournament.

However, Davis now sits at 5-3 in district play and 16-9 overall, and can finish no better than third place in the district standings.

Lexington scored two runs in the second followed by three in the third.

Two more runs in the fifth put Lexington on the brink of the victory, before the Lady Bulldogs scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth to seal the victory.

Davis was held to just three hits in the game.

Kourtney Randell took the loss on the mound for the Lady Wolves, throwing 5 1/3 innings.

She allowed two earned runs on sevenhits with seven walks and four strikeouts.

Davis can wrap up third place in the district with a pair of victories on Monday at home against Community Christian.

The doubleheader will begin at 4 p.m. with the second game beginning at 5:30 p.m. at Davis.
