For the Sulphur Lady Bulldogs, the waiting game has officially begun.

For the Sulphur Lady Bulldogs, the waiting game has officially begun.

Monday afternoon the Lady Bulldogs wrapped up district play with a pair of 10-0 victories over Little Axe in Norman, meaning Sulphur ends its district campaign with a 11-1 record, while improving to 20-3 overall.

Sulphur is already assured of a spot in the regional tournament, but doesn’t yet know where its heading.

Should Lexington lose one of its remaining district games, the Lady Bulldogs will host as district champions, otherwise the Lady Bulldogs will finish second.

Sulphur will be back in action today at 5 p.m. on the road against Washington.

Sulphur got off to a fast start in the opening game of the doubleheader, as the Lady Bulldogs scored four runs in the top of the first.

The Lady Bulldogs added to the lead in the third with five more runs, as the game was finished off in the top of the fifth with one run. 

Meredith Jones had a two-run inside the park home run in the first to make it 4-0.

Not to be outdone, Abby Beck got a three-run inside the park home run in the top of the third to make it 7-0.

Beck finished the game going 2-for-3 with two runs scored and three RBI’s, while Jones was 1-for-3 with one run scored and two RBI’s. 

Macenzie Ruth finished 3-for-4 with one run scored and two RBI’s, while Makella Mobly was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and one RBI. 

Blakelyn Barber got the win on the mound for the Lady Bulldogs, throwing five innings. She allowed two hits with one walk and five strikeouts.

Freshman Owen West got the start in the second game, as she allowed just one hit with four strikeouts and three walks in a five inning victory.

Sulphur got three runs in the first inning, before adding three more in the fourth to make it a 6-0 lead.

Macenzie Ruth opened the fifth inning with an inside the park home run to make it 8-0, before Abby Beck and Kady Lynch finished off the game with an RBI single and RBI double respectively. 

Ruth finished the game going 3-for-4 with three runs scored and three RBI’s, while Beck was 2-for-4 with one run scored and three RBI’s.

Shallen Mershon was 2-for-3 with two RBI’s in the game while Kady Lynch went 2-for-4 with one RBI in the second game of the day.
