With the regional tournament out of the question for this season, the Dickson Lady Comets traveled to Marlow on Tuesday in hopes of causing a little chaos at the top of the district standings.

Dickson was almost able to accomplish its mission as the Lady Comets gave Marlow a close game, but weren’t able to finish it off, resulting in a 3-2 defeat.

The loss drops Dickson to 10-15 on the season and 2-7 in district play.

Dickson came out strong in the top of the first when Makenna Day brought home Lacie Winchester with an RBI single.

Day would double the Lady Comets advantage in the top of the fifth with another RBI single, this time to right field, with Winchester scoring.

Unfortunately, the Lady Outlaws were able to scrap across three runs in the bottom of the seventh, resulting in the defeat.

Day finished the game 2-for-3 with two RBI’s, while Winchester was 1-for-4 with two runs scored.

Shelby Beard took the loss for the Lady Comets, throwing 6 1/3 innings.

She allowed two earned runs on six hits with one walk and four strikeouts.
