For many teams, Friday night presented an opportunity to get some momentum heading into district play.

Unfortunately, it was Mother Nature who turned out to be the big winner on the evening.

Multiple games across the area were cancelled as a result of unplayable field conditions due to rain and lightning in the area.

The Ardmore/McAlester game was tenatively scheduled to kick-off at 8:30 p.m. Friday night, but was eventually called off when lightning continued to delay the kickoff.

Ardmore will begin district play at 7 p.m. Friday night at Cameron Stadium against Lawton MacArthur.

It was much of the same for the Plainview Indians, as Military Appreciation Night was called off against the Elgin Owls at Plainview Stadium.

District play will begin at 7 p.m. Friday night at home for Plainview against Purcell.

Elsewhere, the Healdton Bulldogs were forced to have their Homecoming festivities inside the gymnasium after their game against Tishomingo was originally postponed until Saturday, but eventually forfeited by the Indians, giving the Bulldogs a victory which moved them to 2-1 on the season.

Healdton will open district play at 7 p.m. Friday night at Apache.

Two other teams who were affected by the rain were the Fox Foxes and Wilson Eagles, who had their contest scrapped off the board.

Wilson will head into its bye week this week, while Fox will open district play at 7 p.m. Friday night at home vs. Tipton.
