After a pair of solid second place team finishes earlier this week at the Silo Rebel Invitational, the Madill cross country teams decided to branch out on Saturday in search of more competition.

After a pair of solid second place team finishes earlier this week at the Silo Rebel Invitational, the Madill cross country teams decided to branch out on Saturday in search of more competition.

The Wildcats and Lady Wildcats made their way to Jopin, Missouri on the campus of Missouri Southern University for the 30th annual Southern Stampede event, which featured schools from Missouri, Kansas and Oklahoma competing. 

The Wildcats managed to come in second overall with 112 points as Kearney High School won the team title with 77 points. 

Miguel Duran was the top overall finisher for the Wildcats in 10th place overall with a time of 16:52.92, with Diego Ibarra in 13th overall at 17:06.97.

Chris Bennett finished 24th overall with a time of 17:23.86.

Other finishers for Madill included Brodie Tull (17:39.51), Brandon Serrano (17:50.72), Anthony Sanchez (17:51.98), Sergio Hernandez (17:59.77), and Gael Salinas (18:27.18). 

Meanwhile the Lady Wildcats claimed fifth overall in the team standings with 212 points.

Valeria Calderon was the top finisher for Madill in 10th place with a time of 20:33.08.

Other finishers for Madill included Cielo Gomez (22:00.67), Isabel Sanchez (22:03.61), Joslyn Stumblingbear (23:23.99), Destiney Adams (23:51.40), Camila Hernandez (23:54.16), Mercedes Stumblingbear (24:07.00), Maritsa Mendez (24:56.75), and Emilie Vann (26:08.21).
