DAVIS — With four seniors playing their last ever home game Monday night, the Davis Lady Wolves weren’t about to let anything rain on their parade.

The Dickson Lady Comets made life plenty difficult for the ladies in red and white, but in the end it was Davis who escaped with a narrow 9-7 victory on Senior Night, giving them their 20th victory of the season in the process.

Davis opened the scoring with a four run inning in the first.

Paige Miller got an RBI single, before Lynsey Martin registered an RBI groundout.

Jolee Grinstead made it 3-0 with an RBI single up the middle off a line drive, before Ayanna Miller finished off the inning with an RBI single of her own.

After a scoreless second inning, the Lady Comet bats came alive in a big way in the third.

Emily Nogueira got Dickson on the board with an RBI bloop single to left field, before Makenna Day made it 4-3 with a two-RBI double to the gap in right center field.

However in the bottom half of the third, Davis got one back as Martin scored on a throwing error, before Miller made it 6-3 with an RBI sacrifice bunt.

But just when it appeared Davis was in control, the combination of Nogueria and Day struck again.

Dickson’s shortstop first made it 6-5 with a two-RBI double in the top of the fourth, before Day tied the game with an RBI single to left field.

The excitement continued in the bottom of the fourth as Miller put Davis back in front with an RBI single, before later scoring on a wild pitch to make it 8-6.

Gracie Idleman though kept Dickson within striking distance thanks to an RBI single in the top of the fifth.

Miller though sealed the game in the bottom of the sixth with an RBI single.

Kourtney Randell got the win on the mound for Davis, throwing five innings. She allowed eight hits with one walk and two strikeouts.

Shelby Beard took the loss for Dickson in the circle, throwing six innings. She allowed nine hits with three strikeouts and zero walks.

Dickson (11-16) is scheduled to take on Comanche today at 5 p.m. before competing on Thursday in the Lake Country Conference tournament at Sulphur.
