Ardmore police engaged in a pursuit Monday night, resulting in one individual facing charges for drug trafficking.

APD Capt. Keith Ingle said officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a Chevrolet coupe for expired tags in the 400 block of NW Rockford Rd around 9:30 p.m. However, the driver, 46-year-old Tommy Holland of Ardmore, allegedly sped off towards Interstate 35 with two other passengers in the vehicle.

“They notified other agencies that were along I-35, thought they might be coming to their area,” Ingle said. “But before they got to anybody else’s area, the vehicle finally pulled over at the 39 mile marker.”

Ingle said the two passengers were allegedly trying to get the driver to stop and were detained without any struggle. The suspect took off on foot and after a short chase officers tased him and took him into custody.

“He had about 32 grams of methamphetamine in his vehicle and he was arrested and taken to Carter County Jail,” Ingle said.

The two passengers were later released, Ingle said. Holland is facing charges for the district felony of trafficking in illegal drugs and the district misdemeanors of possession of paraphernalia, attempting to elude, driving under suspension and failure to pay taxes due to the state.
