The accident occurred around 3 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 14 on State Highway 76 and Austin Road, two miles north of Fox in Carter County, according to reports by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
Three teens were reportedly traveling northbound on SH76 in a 2000 Chevrolet Tahoe. The driver, a 16 year old from Tishomingo, reportedly crossed the center line and overcorrected the vehicle, causing it to depart the roadway to the right.
OHP reported that the vehicle rolled several times before coming to a rest on its wheels. The two passengers, a 16 year old from Ada and an 18 year old from Ardmore, were ejected.
The driver was uninjured and the Ardmore teen was transported to the OU Medical Center in stable condition with trunk and internal injuries. A medical examiner pronounced the Ada teen deceased at the scene.
The driver was reportedly the only individual wearing a seatbelt, according to OHP. The exact cause of the accident is still under investigation. The weather was reportedly clear and the roadways were dry at the time of the accident.
