On Friday night Two Frogs Grill will be hosting a special concert event at Heritage Hall. The concert itself will feature four artists: Robin Zander, lead singer of Cheap Trick, Kevin Martin lead singer of Candlebox, Grammy nominated artist Monte Montgomery, and Prophets and Outlaws. In addition to the show, the event is also a toy drive for Toys for Tots, and there will be numerous items in a charity auction with proceeds going to the Family Shelter of Southern Oklahoma and the Community Children’s Shelter and Family Service Center.

Aubry Harris, owner of Two Frogs, said while they have hosted toy drives in years past, he got the idea for such a large show after hosting a private event in Dallas with Robin Zander of Cheap Trick.

“He and his son came in and did an amazing show. We were all sitting there talking, and I said we need to do this in Ardmore,” Harris said. “Then I got to thinking about the toy drive and told him all about it.”

Harris said he got in touch with Zander a few weeks later about getting the event scheduled, and Zander said he was in.

“I hit him back, and the next thing I know he said let’s do it,” Harris said “Then I called my buddy Kevin Martin from Candlebox, and he said he wanted to help. Then I called Monty Montgomery who lives in Dallas and he said he wanted to help out.”

The show was complete after Prophets and Outlaws agreed to complete the set.

Harris said people who bought tables were given some general admission tickets to hand out to their friends with the caveat that they bring a toy to the show if they can. Several of the sponsors are also giving out general admission tickets in exchange for toys.

However, the spirit of giving does not stop there. The event will also contain both a silent and live auction with proceeds going to the Family Shelter and the Children’s Shelter. Silent auction items include signed guitars from artists such as Toby Keith, Ted Nugent, and Blake Shelton among others.

Harris said there will be four live auction items going with one auction between each band’s set. These items include a dinner for two at Two Frogs with Randy Travis and his wife and a signed guitar by Travis, and two tickets and a meet and greet with Billy Idol at his Las Vegas Residency show.

Harris said he hopes the event will be a big success and help bring in lots of toys for Toys for Tots. Attendees are encouraged but not required to bring an unwrapped toy to the show.

“Even if we only get one toy, that’s one kid who’ll have a gift on Christmas and that’s what this is all about,” Harris said.

The Acoustic Toy Drive and Charity Auction will be at Heritage Hall on Friday, December 6. VIP doors open at 6 p.m. and general admission doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets are available in advance for $25 at Two Frogs Grill, Goin Postal, and at www.stubwire.com. Tickets will be $30 the day of the show.
