Following a tough start to the season Tuesday night, the Davis basketball teams got back to winning ways on Friday against Bridge Creek at the Pete Byrd Sports Complex.

Following a tough start to the season Tuesday night, the Davis basketball teams got back to winning ways on Friday against Bridge Creek at the Pete Byrd Sports Complex.   The Lady Wolves managed to win an overtime thriller, while the Wolves took care of business in their contest, giving first year head coach Dustin Hammons his first victory.   Girls   Davis 49 Bridge Creek 47 F/OT   While they didn’t have the best start to the game Friday night, the Lady Wolves put it together when it mattered most.   A 10-8 run in the overtime period managed to give the Lady Wolves their first victory of the season after being tied 39-39 following four quarters of basketball.   Bridge Creek led 10-7 after the first quarter, before the Lady Bobcats outscored Davis 12-8 leading into halftime.   A 14-6 run in the third quarter by Davis got the Lady Wolves back in the game, before an 11-10 fourth quarter in favor of Bridge Creek sent the game to overtime.   Grace Murphy led the Lady Wolves with 13 points followed by Jolee Grinstead with 11 points, and Jacie Lanoy scoring nine points.   Boys   Davis 58 Bridge Creek 51   A 21-point first quarter usually can spell success for a team.   This was the case for the Wolves in their contest against the Bobcats, as they claimed their first win of the season.   Bridge Creek was held to just eight points in the first quarter, before Davis held a 31-22 lead at the break.   A 13-12 third quarter run by the Wolves kept them in front, before a 14-11 fourth quarter sealed the victory for Davis.   Jett Martin led the Wolves with 16 points followed by Dakota Bridenstine with 11 points.
