Coming into the Southern Oklahoma Classic, there were questions about how the No. 17 Ardmore Tigers would handle a step up in competition.   Friday night the Tigers managed to shut down Class 4A’s No. 6 team in the Anadarko Warriors by a commanding 62-40 score.   Unfortunately, the championship game on Saturday didn’t go as planned thanks to the Class 6A Yukon Millers.   Ardmore had difficulties containing the Miller’s high powered offense, as the Tigers suffered their first loss of the season at the Plainview Activity Center by a score of 86-58, dropping them to 3-1 on the season.   After staying close throughout the first quarter, the Millers started to get hot shooting the ball and eventually built up a 21-11 lead to end the first frame.   Try as they might, the Tigers couldn’t get any closer than 10 points in the second quarter as Ardmore found itself down 41-27 going into the halftime break.   In the second half, the Tigers got to within nine points, but the Millers hot shooting never cooled off.   Ardmore was eventually outscored by Yukon 45-31 in the third and fourth quarters combined.   Dion Brown led the Tigers with 13 points followed by Dede Coleman with nine points, with Elijah Franks and Chadre McGee scoring eight points apiece.   Ardmore is back in action on Tuesday night on the road against Durant.
