WILSON — Less than 24 hours after struggling to a disappointing defeat in the semifinals against Ryan, the Healdton Lady Bulldogs decided to ramp up the excitement. They managed to do just that and win in the process. Healdton evened its record at 2-2 on the season thanks to a 56-54 victory over the Temple Lady Tigers in overtime to claim third place at the Black and Gold Classic on Saturday. At the end of the first quarter, the Lady Bulldogs held a slim 14-13 lead, before finding themselves down 25-21 going into the break. A 12-9 third quarter in favor of Temple kept the Lady Bulldogs down going to the fourth at 37-30. But Healdton managed to force overtime with a 19-12 fourth quarter run to tie the game at 49-49. In the extra session, the Lady Bulldogs managed to gain the edge by a 7-5 margin to win the game. Macey Howell led the Lady Bulldogs with 18 points followed by Brynli Tucker with 13 points. Torree Wingo scored eight points and was named to the All-Tournament team. Healdton is back in action on Tuesday night at home against Wilson.
