International travelers now have a new source for passport services. The Champion Public Library announced new passport services will be available beginning today. Southern Oklahoma Library System executive director Gail Oehler said the library is excited to offer this new service to patrons. “Library visitors often ask where they can access passport facilities, so we felt like this service would benefit our users greatly,” she said in a statement.
Passport services are only available at the Ardmore location and are not currently being offered at all SOLS branches. The services will be available Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m., Fridays from 9 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., and Saturdays between 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
The U.S. Post Office in Ardmore also offers passport services by appointment only.
Reference librarian Pam Bean reminds patrons that the process can take time and asks people not to request the service too close to the end of the day. She said her branch has already received requests for passport information this week and that the Department of State would not allow the services to be offered until today’s official beginning of the program.

The library will be closed Dec. 24 through Dec. 26 for Christmas, and Dec. 31 and Jan. 1, 2020 for new year celebrations. The Champion Public Library will also be closed on Dec. 20 for staff development.
