Before heading into the holiday break, the Sulphur basketball teams decided to them themselves a special gift Friday night. Both the Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs claimed victories over rival Davis, keeping them undefeated on the season at the Pete Byrd Sports Complex. Sulphur is in action after the new year on Jan. 3 when both teams will take on Byng at the Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City. Girls Sulphur 49 Davis 32 There wasn’t much drama for the No. 15 Lady Bulldogs as they moved to 5-0 on the season with a comfortable victory over the Lady Wolves. Sulphur raced out to a 20-8 lead in the first quarter, before taking a 33-15 advantage into the halftime break. Davis struggled in the third quarter as the Lady Wolves scored just four points, while Sulphur put in eight of its own. The Lady Wolves did manage to end the game on a high note as they outscored Sulphur 13-8 in the fourth quarter. Korie Allensworth led Sulphur with 17 points followed by Kady Lynch with nine points and Payton James with eight points. Davis was paced by Jolee Grinstead with 10 points and Grace Murphy with eight points. Boys Sulphur 69 Davis 30 Offense was at a premium for the Bulldogs Friday night as they feasted on a comfortable victory against the Wolves. Sulphur opened the game with a 17-7 first quarter run, before taking a 35-18 advantage into the locker room at the half. The Bulldogs managed to outscore Davis 16-13 in the third quarter, before finishing the game off with a 16-9 run in the fourth. TJ Todd led the offense for Sulphur with 14 points followed by Mace Mobly and Weston Arms with 12 points apiece, with Tavius McDonald scoring 11 points. Colin Dulaney led the Wolves with five points in the game.
