It’s an exciting time at The Clubhouse. While the family entertainment center located near Regional Park is still under construction, one of its many elements — the zip line — is now complete. In celebration of this milestone, a few guests were invited out on Thursday to try it out.

The zip line course is made up of three towers — with the tallest being 70 feet. During the round trip, guests can admire the view as they glide dozens of feet off the ground. Before getting on the zip line, highly trained, certified employees will help thrill-seekers into safety harnesses and helmets. The certified employees will also be stationed at each of the towers to ensure a safe ride.

Kim Davis, president of Davis and Davis Recreational Planning Consultants, is in charge of the project design for the zip line. He said his team partnered closely with Challenge Design Innovations, the design build installers, to bring the zip line course to life. He said the zip line course doubles as two features in one because the challenge course is built between the first two towers.

“The real fun here is also going to be the challenge course,” Davis said. “There are actually four different challenge courses because there are two different layouts set at two different heights. Right now it’s two levels, but it’s actually tall enough to add a third level that’s even higher in the future.”

Davis said that each of the challenge courses has it’s own smaller zip line incorporated into the design.

“If the big zip line makes you nervous, you can start out on the challenge course and then graduate up to the big one,” Davis said.

Ardmore Parks and Recreation Director Teresa Ervin said she was very excited to see the first group of people enjoying themselves on the zip line. She pointed out this is just one of the many features that will be a part of the completed Clubhouse. Features still under construction include the main building, the miniature golf course, the go-kart track, the tree houses, and water works.

Ervin said as of right now — barring any weather delays this winter or next spring — The Clubhouse is on track to open in June 2020.
