One of the most competitive districts in Class 2A this season came from District 2A-8. The Dickson Comets, Marietta Indians and the Davis Wolves each had their hands full each week with tough competition, and it has recently been rewarded with several players from both teams being named to the All-District awards list. Wolves standout Cooper Webb was named as the Defensive Player of the Year, while teammate Dane Parker was named as a first team offensive selection at the running back position. Tyler Tomlinson also represented the Wolves on the first team offensive list at the wide receiver position, with Justin Ross also earning a spot for Davis at the offensive line position. Trey Parker was named a first team defensive selection for the Wolves. Dickson was led by Trevor Baxter who earned a first team offensive selection at the offensive line position. Rusty Beard was a first team selection for the Comets on the defensive side of the ball, where he set a new single season record of 130 tackles, and set a new single game record with 25 tackles against Davis in week six. Zirane Wright was also a first team selection for the Comets on the defensive side of the ball, where he finished with 57 tackles for the season with 11 solo and three quarterback sacks. Cody Hicks represented Marietta on the first team offense at the offensive lineman position. Johnny Smith, Jzavionn Bennett and Casey O’Brien were each named honorable mention selections for Dickson.
