Ardmore police responded to an alleged burglary at a local marijuana dispensary Friday morning — later discovering that another dispensary across the street had also been broken into.
At around 4:41 a.m., APD Captain Eric Hamblin said officers responded to an alarm going off at one of the dispensaries, located off of 12th Ave NW and NE Washington St.
“They discovered the back door had been pried open,” Hamblin said. “(The suspects) made entry into the dispensary and there was about $1,000 worth of product that was taken.”
While investigating the alleged burglary at the dispensary, officers reportedly discovered that the back door of a nearby nail salon had also been pried open. “But they don’t believe entry was made and if it was they didn’t take anything from there,” Hamblin said.
Instead, officers believe the suspects may have gone to another dispensary next door. “While investigating that, (officers) went across to another dispensary and they discovered that it had also been burglarized.”
Hamblin said the back door of the dispensary had also been damaged by what appeared to be a forced entry, along with some damage to an ATM. However, there was no product taken from the second location. The total loss for the second dispensary is estimated at $75.
As of now, no suspects have been named in the burglary incidents. However, Hamblin said the department is currently reviewing video footage from the businesses and attempting to identify possible suspects. “We do have some good video and we’re trying to get them identified.”
