Entering a tournament as the defending champion is never an easy task.
Entering a tournament as the defending champion is never an easy task. Unfortunately, the No. 4 Ardmore Lady Tigers found this out the hard way Thursday night in Ada. Unranked Collinsville pulled a second half comeback off to stun the Lady Tigers 61-56 in the opening round of the East Central Classic at the Ada Cougar Activity Center. The loss is just the third this season for Ardmore, and its first against a team from Oklahoma. Ardmore opened the game strong with an 18-10 first quarter run, before taking a 31-20 lead into the halftime break. Unfortunately the Lady Cardinals offense caught fire in the second half, going on a 23-11 run in the third quarter to grab a 43-42 advantage, before finishing the game off with an 18-14 fourth quarter run. Reagan McCurley led the scoring for Ardmore with 16 points followed by Amaya Gordon with 12 points and Khalayah Willis with 10 points. Ardmore will play in the consolation semifinals today at 1 p.m.
