Thursday proved to be no different as the Cardinals pushed their way into the semifinals with a convincing victory, while the Lady Cardinals fell in a close opening round contest. Girls Thackerville 29 Springer 23 Springer’s Lady Cardinals put a scare into the Thackerville Lady Wildcats before falling in a narrow contest Thursday morning. After the first quarter Springer led 8-5, before Thackerville came back to lead 13-11 going into the break. An 11-3 run by the Lady Wildcats in the third quarter gave them a 24-14 lead going to the fourth, where Springer finished strong with a 9-5 run. Boys Springer 69 Bray-Doyle 41 There was no stopping the Springer Cardinals in their opening round contest, as they cruised past the Bray-Doyle Donkeys Thursday evening. Springer opened the game with a 19-2 run in the first quarter, before taking a 40-8 advantage into the halftime break. B-D tried to mount a comeback in the third, but Springer managed to outscore the Donkeys 20-15, before being outscored 18-9 in the fourth. Malik Brown and Cory Leu led the scoring for Springer with 23 points apiece in the game.
